Americas Best Low-sugar Dark Chocolate 2023
International Chocolate Awards – Silver
From the verdant slopes of Ecuador’s northern coast comes a dark chocolate that embodies the essence of its extraordinary origin. The Costa Esmeraldas estate, where ocean breezes meet emerald hillsides, stands as a testament to the dedication of single-estate cacao cultivation.
The single estate cacao beans used to make this chocolate are grown in Costa Esmeraldas (Emerald Coast) in northern Ecuador. This family owned & operated farm, situated on emerald green hills overlooking the ocean, grows a unique strain of native Ecuadorian ‘Nacional’ cacao, resulting in an intense dark chocolate with notes of concord grape, rum, and roasted almonds.
In each carefully crafted bar, the pristine terroir of Costa Esmeraldas comes alive through the complex interplay of flavours. The distinctive Nacional cacao variety reveals its noble heritage with bold notes of concord grape, complemented by warming hints of rum and the comforting depth of roasted almonds. This is more than chocolate – it’s the story of a family’s dedication to preserving Ecuador’s finest cacao, told through every thoughtfully crafted piece.
